Dungeons and Dragons: Enter the Adventure

Create your hero, join your party, and step into a world where anything can happen! Guided by a Creatineers Dungeon Master, kids will solve mysteries, face monsters, make daring choices, and help shape an epic adventure together. Perfect for first-time players and experienced heroes alike.

Film Lab: Make Movie Magic

Teleport across the room, clone yourself, disappear on camera, or turn an ordinary scene into something extraordinary! Kids will act, direct, film, and edit their own videos while experimenting with clever camera tricks, sound, lighting, and special effects. It is everything they need to turn their biggest ideas into movies people will want to watch.

Animation Explorers: Make Your First Stop-Motion Movie:

Watch your clay creations come alive! Kids will shape their own characters, build tiny worlds, and turn their ideas into stop-motion movies one picture at a time. They’ll also animate toys and try pixilation, a fun kind of stop-motion where they get to be the characters. By the end of the class, they’ll have their own animated movies to share with family and friends.

Comic Creators: Make Your Own Graphic Novel

Invent a hero. Design a world. Draw the adventure! Kids will create original characters, dream up an exciting story, and transform it into a graphic novel filled with action, dialogue, and bold illustrations. By the end of the class, every creator will have a comic of their own to share.

Chess Lords is an interactive chess learning program where students learn how to play  chess by playing real games and also becoming “living pieces” on a life-size chess board.  This creates a dynamic and creative hands-on way students can learn the game of chess, develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, social skills and creativity while becoming budding chess masters!

AYDT’s personal approach to teaching dance aims to inspire each student to reach their highest potential and feel a sense of pride in their accomplishments. Children are encouraged to aspire towards their own personal goals in a manner which celebrates the individual and promotes self -esteem and positive body image. They will be offering two dance options.

HIP-HOP DANCE PARTY: Our Hip Hop classes are an exciting, fitness -conditioning workout taught by highly experienced dance education professionals. Class work consists of a cardio and strength building warm -up, stretching and developing a vocabulary of steps and combinations, including basic breakdancing skills.  All music and movement is age -appropriate. We place strong emphasis on technique, proper alignment and safety,
taking into consideration the individual physicality of each student.

BROADWAY JAZZ: Step into the spotlight with our Musical Theater Jazz program! Inspired by the legendary styles of Bob Fosse, Luigi, and other jazz greats, this high -energy class brings Broadway to life! Our progressive curriculum blends classic jazz technique with fresh choreography, a mix of timeless classics and contemporary music, and a focus on developing strong leaps, turns, and stage presence. It’s bold, dynamic, and built to inspire young performers to shine on stage with confidence and style.

Grades: K-2

For the littlest fencer, New Amsterdam Fencing Academy focuses, first and foremost, on developing a healthy child – while allowing them to run around brandishing foam swords. Limited to only 8 students, the class teaches children in Kindergarten to 2nd grade improve their balance, hand-eye coordination, and mindfulness through fencing games and challenges. That involve swords.  They like that. 

Grades: 3-5

Fencers in 3rd to 5th grade engage in a group class that uses the building blocks of competitive fencing to emphasize the importance of working together while also fostering the child’s ability to think individually and critically starting from an early age. The development of hand-eye coordination, general fitness, and body movement begun at the previous level is age appropriately elevated here to fit the advanced abilities of older elementary school students. Training is geared towards developing speed, strength, endurance, confidence, focus and self-control, all skills that help children do well not merely in fencing, but in school and in other organized sports. While playing with swords.  They like that.

DOUBLE PERIOD FOR GRADES 3-5 ONLY!

One of the main sports at our summer camp and one of the fastest growing sports in the USA for both boys and girls (making its Olympic debut in 2028!), flag football is a high energy, fast paced, athletic and fun sport that was designed as the safe alternative to tackle football.  In this class, players will start with a complete warm-up and dynamic stretch before going through a drill program in the first half of each class that teaches all aspects of the game including: catching, throwing, wide receiver play and route running, quarterback play, and defensive techniques while improving foot speed, quickness and endurance.  The second half of each session focuses on scrimmage game play each week to put the new skills learned into game situations!  Players of all experience levels can participate in this great sport!

From board game classics to card games, trivia, and puzzles-- there's always something new on the table! Each week, students dig into a variety of different games while they:

• Discover strategy, cooperative, card, and just for laughs games
• Learn to win graciously and lose gracefully
• Sharpen critical thinking and planning-ahead skills
• Make new friends over shared quests and epic comebacks

Card games, UNO, Connect Four, Jenga, Twister, Battleship, jigsaw puzzles and more along with some Jumbo Sized games to bring the game to life!

No experience necessary, just a love of fun and willingness to take turns.  There's a seat at the table for everyone!

Taught by Roy Kamen, a ninth-degree black belt in Traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate and the Chief Instructor of One World Dojo, Karate Kids is a movement-based character development program that helps children build focus, confidence, self-control, respect, resilience, emotional regulation, and positive peer relationships.

The class aligns naturally with the Social-Emotional Learning goals that many schools emphasize today while also providing students with a disciplined, joyful, and age-appropriate martial arts experience.

Each class begins with breathing exercises, brief meditation, and a short lesson in the history and culture of karate. Students then move into Taiso Daruma — stretching, breathing, and warm-up exercises — followed by traditional karate basics, kata, partner work, Japanese counting and terminology, and lessons in courtesy, respect, and responsible behavior.

The program is designed to help students listen carefully, follow directions, work safely with others, manage frustration, set goals, and develop confidence through a clear belt-achievement system. 

Students are expected to work hard, but the atmosphere is encouraging. The aim is to help each child feel capable, respected, and proud of steady improvement.

At Launch, children learn the relevance of math and science in the real world. By engaging kids with fun, real world activities that illustrate math’s connection to the science-related subjects they love, they become passionate about learning!  LAUNCH will offer multiple age appropriate and fun class options this semester!

I Wanna Be… An Engineer! - Grades K-2nd

Calling all inventors, builders, designers and dreamers! This is your opportunity to shine! From wing designs to clothespin cars, curious student minds discover what it takes to be an engineer. Throughout the program we explore engineering disciplines ranging from aerospace to electrical, with little hands working on innovative projects that engage and amaze. Curious kids explore how engineers problem solve to address environmental crises, use nature to inspire inventions, and complete complex circuits to light up the night sky. Ingenuity, here we come!

I Wanna Be… An Astronaut! - Grades K-2nd

Three, two, one…blast off! It’s time to fall in line for astronaut training! Launch’s students dive in by earning their helmets and jet packs as they discover what it takes to make it in outer space. Next up: Escape Earth’s gravity to explore the Sun, the Moon, and many of the solar system’s interesting features. Stand clear as we replicate the moon’s topography with our crater drop experiment! Then let’s kick it into warp drive to study the stars and build pipe cleaner constellations! From launching Alka-Seltzer rockets to creating satellite spinners, Launch’s budding space explorers learn the ropes as they prepare to take off to infinity and beyond!

Engineering A Metropolis - Grades 3rd-5th

Nature Adventure brings another important part of childhood back into the afterschool experience: curiosity about the natural world.  This class turns that curiosity into structured exploration. Whenever weather and the school environment allow, students will spend part of the program outdoors in Central Park or other nearby parks investigating the seasonal changes taking place around them.

Lessons combine nature study, observation, environmental awareness, art, experimentation, storytelling, journaling, and hands-on projects. Students might investigate how seeds travel, study the patterns inside leaves, learn how birds build nests, examine the architecture of insects, explore the changing colors of trees, create land art, make observational drawings, study animal adaptations, or use natural materials as inspiration for an art project.

Every Nature Adventure lesson asks children to do something increasingly rare: Slow down. Look closely. Ask questions. The goal is not only to teach children about nature but to help them develop a relationship with it, building curiosity, respect, and a sense of stewardship for the living world around them.

Indoor nature-based lessons and projects will be used when weather prevents outdoor exploration.

TAUGHT BY: Stellar Soccer

This fast-paced and fun class helps children learn the game and improve their soccer ability in a relaxed and stress-free environment! Through a rich curriculum set by early childhood educators, groups benefit from targeted grass-root skills training designed to be age and skill appropriate, providing players with ample opportunities to hone and develop their abilities through a series of games and practice based activities. The expert coaches from Stellar Soccer encourage individual play to foster self-confidence and productivity. Specific lessons on defense and offense through engaging games and scrimmages will also be introduced as classes progress and sessions are tailored by age group.

Sports club is the ultimate class for athletes who want to play, have fun and learn! Taught by PS 333 PE Teach Mr. Diep, students will participate in a variety of sports through the semester in smaller class blocks allowing them to get active, learn to play in a team setting, practice skills and have a blast! With an emphasis on fun, sportsmanship and movement, this class is perfect for sports lovers of all skill levels who love to play! Class can be held in school gym or even in yard when weather allows for outdoor sports.

Yoga & Meditation gives kids a place to move, breathe, reset, and learn practical tools for calming their bodies and minds. The class combines an energetic, child-friendly yoga practice with mindfulness, breathing exercises, games, reflection, and guided meditation.

Yoga sessions focus on strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, body awareness, and confidence. Children learn traditional yoga poses and sequences, but our classes are intentionally playful and accessible rather than rigid. A session might move from energetic poses and balance challenges into partner exercises, breathing techniques, and finally a guided meditation or quiet reflection. Through repeated practice, children begin to understand an important idea: Their breath is something they can use. When they’re frustrated, nervous, overwhelmed, excited, or having difficulty focusing, they can begin to recognize what is happening in their bodies and develop tools to regulate themselves.

Every child is encouraged to participate at their own comfort level. No previous yoga experience is necessary. We will bring journaling in as a way to include a written/drawing element.

Our goal isn't to create perfect yoga poses. It is to give children a lifelong understanding of the connection between movement, breath, emotions, and the mind.
